Fontevraud, part 2

More of L’Abbaye de Fontevraud, beginning with its cloister. In New York we lived really close to The Cloisters, the medieval museum offshoot of the Met. While it was always charming and different, man it’s nothing compared to this authentic one.

After our first night in the hotel, Charlotte had an early morning meeting to prep for the event. I joined her just long enough to realize I hadn’t really been invited, so I broke off from the group with camera and notebook in hand. What I had going for me at the time but didn’t realize, was that I was roaming the grounds before the abbey had officially opened. This meant unbelievable freedom and solitude during a quiet sunny morning in the french countryside. I’m searching for the right adjective here and keep coming back to the same one: it was transporting.
