Le Louvre. First a 12th-century fortress, then the home of King Louis XIV, before he decided to move on up to the deluxe apartment that is Versailles. Most times I don’t even go inside for the paintings: the outer facades are soul food in their own right. What was I, a stone mason in a previous life?
