Goonie Map #3

The Eglise Notre Dame du Travail looks normal enough from the outside. But let’s be honest, normal doesn’t get you on the Goonie Map. This church has a unique interior you won’t see anywhere else in Paris (or maybe the world for that matter). Directly influenced by Mr. Eiffel and his kinda-famous tower, its entire internal structure trades in stone and mortar for 135 tons of iron and steel.

For an explanation of why, the name of the building is a tip-off. Translated as “Church of Our Lady of Work”, it was commissioned by a priest wanting to combine worship with the industrial identity of his blue-collar parishioners. What’s not documented is how everyone reacted to spending their Sundays being constantly reminded of Monday mornings.
